If you have an interest in the energy system in your local area, with a particular focus on our new Regional Energy System Planning (RESP) role, you can now register to take part in NESO's third round of RESP Forums taking place this October across Scotland, Wales and England.
In November 2023, NESO were given a new role to develop regional energy strategic plans (RESPs) for Scotland, Wales and the nine English regions. The purpose of these plans is to accelerate changes to the energy distribution networks, ensuring local areas get the energy system they need to help meet local and national goals, while minimising costs to energy bill payers.
As NESO, they are committed to ensuring the views of our customers are at the heart of their work to plan the future energy system. The RESP forums are a key part of their approach, helping them get to know the nations and regions they'll be working with, to share their latest progress and thinking, and to invite feedback that we can use to shape their work.
The focus this time will be on two key items:
- the tRESP consultation, which is live from 23 September to 3 November 2025. Further information on the consultation is available here.
- the forthcoming RESP Methodology consultation, which will launch in November 2025.
